Jean S. Bias, CPA
I’m Jean Bias, a Lakeland, FL CPA with a career in education and public accounting. I graduated with an Accounting degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. My next stop was Ohio State University, where I earned an MBA with a concentration in Finance. Before beginning my career in Tax, I taught at Ohio State, the University of Toledo, and Florida Southern College. I believe my years as a college professor helped me learn to better communicate and explain accounting and tax concepts.
I have 14 years of experience in public accounting. I’ve consulted with numerous clients to help them decide the business entity choice that’s best for them, which type of retirement plan to use, the benefits and costs of adding an employee, how to maximize their itemized deductions, the tax impact of selling a rental property, and many other issues. I’ve prepared all types of tax returns including individual, corporate, partnership, trust, gift, and returns for tax-exempt organizations.
Most recently I was the Partner in charge of the tax department at Baylis & Company PA, a Lakeland CPA firm. After years of rubbing elbows with entrepreneurs and listening to my clients’ needs, I resigned from my position at Baylis to create a “non-traditional” public accounting firm. By using the latest technology and business practices to minimize overhead, I’m able to provide high quality CPA services at affordable fees.
I am a licensed CPA and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Florida Institute of CPAs. I’m a QuickBooks ProAdvisor certified in QuickBooks online and QuickBooks desktop. As a ProAdvisor I’m trained to help clients set up their businesses in QuickBooks and resolve any issues that may arise. I can also offer discounted prices on QuickBooks products.
I’ve had the privilege of volunteering for some wonderful organizations in Lakeland, including Paint Your Heart Out, Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE), Cleveland Court elementary school, and the SPCA.
